Dieting for the goals of weight loss, a healthy weight or other health benefits is a worthwhile endeavour that can reap benefits. Unfortunately, it’s much easier said than done and far too easy to wander off course.

- Don’t try “crash diets”, fad diets or other extreme dieting
- Remember that weekends are not a dietary vacation
- Skipping breakfast
- Eating too fast
- Not drinking enough water
- Not paying attention to snacks and ‘mindless’ eating
- Healthy snacks are OK
- Don’t ditch the dairy
- Don’t get tricked by terms like ‘low fat’, ‘fat free’ or ‘sugar free’
- Not counting calories in your drinks
- Avoid the drive through, fast food
- Setting unrealistic goals
