Banana Split

The original banana split was created in 1904 and is now a favourite dessert, but at an average of 1,000 calories, it’s also one of the biggest nutritional offenders. Keeping the portions realistic, and using non-fat frozen yoghurt in place of ice cream allows you to indulge without the guilt. Topped with whipped dairy topping and a cherry, who can resist this simple treat.


Lower Calorie Banana Split

This recipe makes perfectly portioned banana splits in a jar that are decadently delicious, but won’t hurt your waistline!


  • 1 medium banana, sliced
  • 2/3 cup non-fat vanilla frozen yoghurt
  • 2 tbsp Lite chocolate syrup
  • 4 tbsp whipped topping
  • 2 cherries for garnish



  1. Place half of the banana slices in the bottom of each jar.
  2. Top each with 1/3 cup of frozen yoghurt, then 1 tablespoon each of chocolate syrup.
  3. Finish with with the whipped cream and top with a cherry.
