Low Fat Spaghetti Bolognese

Sometimes nothing will satisfy your hunger better than a comforting plate of pasta and today we have a simple, yet low fat version of everyones favourite recipe. At 123 calories per serving, you can enjoy a nice Spaghetti Bolognese and still keep to your diet.

 

Low Fat Spaghetti Bolognese

Ingredients

  • 200g uncooked wholemeal Spaghetti
  • 250g less than 5% fat lean mince beef
  • 1 tin of chopped tomatoes
  • 2 onions, finely diced
  • 200g small mushrooms
  • 2 cloves garlic, crushed
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 tbsp of tomato puree
  • 1 carrot
  • 1 tsp of black pepper
  • 1 tsp of parsley
  • 1 tbsp of Worcester sauce

Method

  • Place large saucepan over medium heat, add oil, add the mince and onion, cook for 10 minutes, or until meat is well browned.
  • Add the grated carrot to the pan.
  • Put this mixture into a heated wok
  • Add the can of chopped tomatoes, Worcester sauce and tomato puree to the wok and stir well until combined.
  • Add 150ml water and simmer for 10 – 12 minutes.
  • Add the garlic and mushrooms to a pan and cook for about 7 minutes.
  • Boil the spaghetti for 12 – 15 minutes or until cooked to taste.
  • Add the mushrooms and garlic to the mince.
  • Drain the spaghetti
  • Serve immediately.
