Healthy Hot Chocolate
Hot chocolate is perfect for this time of year and there’s just nothing that warms us up like a cup of creamy hot chocolate! You can give the sugary packaged mixes a miss and try these easy hot chocolate recipes.
Gingerbread Hot Chocolate
Ingredients
- 1 cup of milk (unsweetened almond milk)
- 1 tbsp. unsweetened cocoa powder
- 2 tsp. honey
- 1/8th tsp. ground ginger
- 1/8th tsp. cinnamon
- Small pinch of ground cloves
Method
- Combine milk, cocoa powder, honey, ginger, cinnamon and cloves in a small pot.
- Gently heat over a medium low heat, whisking until all the ingredients are combined and the cocoa is simmering (don’t boil so that the milk doesn’t separate).
- Pour into a mug and enjoy.
Peppermint Hot Chocolate
Ingredients
- 1 cup of milk
- 1-2 peppermint tea bags
- 1 tbsp. unsweetened cocoa powder
- 2 tsp. honey
Method
- Add milk to a small sauce pan along with the tea bags (use one tea bag for a mild mint flavour and two for a stronger flavour).
- Bring heat to a medium low and simmer for 5 minutes.
- Remove the tea bag and whisk in cocoa powder and honey until well combined.
- Pour into your favourite mug and enjoy.
